”Sara Sommerfeld debuts as a writer and she does it with bravura.”

and the personal narrative voice
it is very hard to put down.”

Rating 5/5 = Brilliant

On September 17th, Sara Sommerfeld debuts as an author with an emotional autobiographical novel, written with self-distance and a large measure of humor. In ”Is Everything I Learned About Love A Lie?”, Sara unabashedly faces her self-hatred, doubts and fragile self-esteem and travels to Bali to find herself. With Elizabeth Gilbert’s classic novel Eat, Pray, Love as a companion, it becomes both a dramatic and life-changing journey.

A poignant autobiographical novel about traveling far away to find home, about the search for one’s true self and the killing of one’s inner perfectionist, written with both wisdom and a dose of humor.

THE SUCCESS CONTINUES – on tour!

After playing at the main stage of Sweden’s national theatre The Royal Dramatic Theater, famous as Dramaten – Sara Sommerfeld´s solo show Showbizniz will now on tour!

Showbizniz – by and with Sara Sommerfeld
In this celebrated solo-performance Sara Sommerfeld tells her personal story with humor and self-irony. An entertaining show about heritage, the road to an extentive acting career, and the search for one of Sweden’s national minority languages – yiddish. Sara offers a mixture of roles she has previously played: from plays by Shakespeare, Molière and Strindberg, to songs from the musical Grease, Annie get your gun and Fiddler on the roof. It is also a universal story about the similarity between humans – regardless of cultural background. The show is performed in Swedish and Yiddish. All Yiddish is subtitled into Swedish so EVERYONE can understand.

”Häpnadsväckande komiskt, musikaliskt, självironiskt, kärleksfullt, aggressivt och medvetandehöjande. Det är också skickligt skådespeleri och välgjord show.” /Dagens nyheter

Sara about the content:
”Show Bizniz – in Yiddish” is a performance about how my life choices have been affected by being a second-generation immigrant and by inheriting the wounds of the Holocaust.
The Nazis didn’t just murder millions of people – they nearly annihilated an entire language.
Just before World War II, Yiddish was spoken globally by around 13 million people – today barely a tenth have Yiddish as their mother tongue.
My grandmother survived the holocaust. She and my whole family spoke Yiddish. But with her generation, the language has disappeared. Now I want to revive it! What would it look like if Yiddish had been allowed to live on in my family? If the family had been allowed to live and if it had not been dangerous or shameful to speak Yiddish after the war years?
As an actor, I can’t find a better way to investigate a language – than via the theatre!
